This is an example of an emergency response that occurred at the basement receiving water tank of a commercial building in Tokyo.

A failure alarm was received for the pressure water supply pump, so the security company was dispatched for the initial response and confirmed the situation. A hole had opened in the rubber flexible joint installed in the piping on the pump discharge side, and water was spraying out. It appears that the pump failure alarm was triggered because the pump continued operating for a long time without stopping.

At the request of the security company, we rushed to the site and replaced the rubber flexible joint. Fortunately, no damage was found on the pump, and the problem was resolved by replacing only the rubber flexible joint.

This incident was caused by age-related deterioration of the rubber flexible joint. It was a location we had pointed out during periodic inspections, and the accident occurred just before it was scheduled to be repaired. This once again shows the importance of preventing accidents through regular inspections.
