This case is an example of an emergency response to damage caused by heavy rain. Normally, when rainwater accumulates in the underground rainwater tank, the rainwater pump installed in the tank automatically discharges the rainwater to the public sewerage system. The abnormality occurred because the magnetic switch that controls the rainwater pump had failed, preventing the pump from operating. As a result, a large amount of rainwater accumulated in the rainwater tank and the high-water alarm was triggered. If the rainwater had not been properly discharged to the public sewerage system, the basement could have flooded.
