Case Details

At this aquarium, we cleaned a fish-system supply water relay tank (capacity: 5 m³) and a marine mammal-system backwash relay tank (capacity: 37.5 m³) in the back-of-house area.
After draining the water from the tanks, our employees enter the tanks and perform cleaning. Before cleaning, brown stains (animal waste and similar matter) can be seen on the bottom of the tanks. If left in this condition without cleaning, water circulation in the exhibition tanks where the animals live would deteriorate and could affect the animals’ health, so regular cleaning is necessary.

For tank interior cleaning, dirt on the walls and sediment on the bottom are washed away with a high-pressure washer. After removing the dirt, all water droplets are removed with residual water removal equipment. This completes the tank interior cleaning. When cleaning receiving water tanks for drinking water, we use dedicated cleaners and disinfect with a sodium hypochlorite solution. However, because these tanks supply water to tanks inhabited by living creatures, we do not use anything other than tap water.

The photos in the bottom row show the inside of the tanks after cleaning.
The brown stains are gone, and the tanks are now sparkling clean.
We also cleaned not only the tank interiors but also the tank exterior walls, completing the work. The customer kindly told us, “They look clean now. I am glad we asked you.”
